AN ORDINANCE APPROVING ANNEXATION
OF A R~RCEL OF. Ui~INHABITED RESI-
DEi~I.&L LAND TO THE .CITY OF BAKERS-
FIELD, CALIFOR~IA.
WHERE~S, a petition was filed with the Council of the City of
Bakersfield on the 10th day of September, 19~6, requesting that
Certain uninhabited territory therein described be annexed and
included within the incorporated limits of the City of Bakersfield;
and
W~RE&S, said petition was signed by 'the owners of not less
than one-fourth of the area of the land in-such territory, and repre-
senting not less than one-fourth of the assessed value of such
territory according to the last preceding equalized assessment roll
of the C~unty of Kerns and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of'Bakersfield did on the 10th
day of September~ 1956, pass a resolution in compliance with the
provisions of the Uninhabited Territory Act of 19~9, Statutes of
19~9, Chapter 297, specifically describing the boundaries of the
territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of Bakersfield, and
designating such territory by an appropriate identification, and
setting Nonday, the ~Oth day of September, 1956, at the hour of
~8 o"clock P. M., at the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City
of Bakersfield,State of California, as the day, hour and place when
and where any person owning real property within such territory so
proposed to be annexed and having any objections to the proposed
annexation may appear before the legislative body and°show cause
why such territory should not be so annexed~ and
~ .~HERE~S,-said resolution was-published for at 'least once a
week for two successive weeks prior to said hearing in the The Bakers-
field Californian, a newspaper of general circulation published in
the City of Bakersfield, the municipal corporation to which it is
proposed to annex such territory; and
WHERE&S, no written protests were filed against the proposed
annexation by any owner of property within the territory proposed to
be annexed.

BAFJZRSFIELD, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby approves
the annexation and inclusion within the incorporated limits of the
City of Bakersfield~ that certain uninhabited territory designated
as a parcel of land bounded on the north by a line 4?0 feet north of
Bernard Street and on the northwest by a 'line 130 feet northwest of
the proposed extension of Sacramento Street~ and on the northeast by
Tracts ~1173 and 1260 and on the southeast by an alley 120 feet south-
easterly of the proposed extension of Irene Street and on the south
by a line l~O feet north of Bernard Street, including a strip of land
100 feet in width east of the east line of Union Avenue between
Columbus Avsnue and a point 470 feet north of Bernard Street~ being
more specifically described as follows:
Beginning at the most northerly corner of that certain
territory annexed to the corporate limits of the City of
Bakersfield by the annexation proceedings bearing the
signature of the Secretary of State under date of
February 19~ 1946, said annexed territory being a part of
