as follows ~
SEOTION 1.
That Section 4~01 of the Uniform Building Code, 1940 E~ition,
as adopted by the Pacific Coast Building Officials' Conference at
the 6th Annual Meeting, October, 1927, with Revisions and Additions
approved at the 17th Annual Meeting, October, 1939, as pubIished
May 1, 1940, printiD~ of May~ 1940, 'which was adopted by Ordinance '
No. 682 New Series of the City of Bakersfield, California~ be and
the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new subdivision, to,
be numbered subdivision (b.1), said subdivision to read as follows~.
(b.1) WOOD-~LAT AWNINGS-FIY~ TYP~. A fixed awning con-
structed of wood slats may e~tend over the sidewalk portion of a
public street a distance equal to two-thirds of the sidewalk space;
provided, that' every such awning shall be at least seven feet six
inches (7' 6~') in the clear between the lowest point of any projec-
tion and th~ sidewalk below. Such awning shall be supported entirely.
