follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 11 of Ordinance No. 703 New Series of the City of
Bakersfield be and the same is hereby ameD~led to read as follows~
Section 11. IDENTITY LIGHTS..Every taxicab shall be equipped
with an identity light attached to the top of such taxicab. Said
identity light shall be constructed in one unit consisting of an
illuminated pla.re or cyl.~nder upon which is printed the name of the
carrier and/or the words· "For Hire". The overall dimensions of such
identity light shali not exceed six (6) inches in height by twenty
(20) inches in lengtho The lights of the identity ll§ht unit shall
be connected to a contact switch attached to the taximeter9 and such
contact switch shall operate automatically to illuminate ~aid identity
light when the taximeter is not in operation indicating the cab is
vacant and for hlre~i aD~ to extinguish said identity light when the
taximeter is in operation. It shall be unlawful to drive or operate
any taxicab with such identity light illuminated while carrying
passengers for compensation~ and it shall be unlawfu! to drive~
operate or be in charge of any taxicab unless such identity light is
illuminated when such taxicab is for hire.
