W~..~v~AS~ a petition was filed with the Council of the 'City of Bakersfield on the 25th day of August, 1'947, requestin~ that certain ur~nhabited territory therein desqribed be annexed and included w~th~n the incorporated limits of the City of Bakersfleld~ and ~~ said petition was siEned by the owners of not less than oD~-fourth (1/4) of the area of tb~ land in such territory, and representl~ not less than'one-fourth (1/4) of the assessed value of such territory aooordir~ to the last precedin~ equalized assessment roll. of the County of Kern; and WHERE~ the Council of the City of Bakersfield did on the 25th day of August, 1947, pass a resolution in compliance with the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, Statutes of 1939, Chapter 297~ as amended, specifically describin~ 2he boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of Bakersfield, and desig~-_tir~ such .territory by an appropriate identifioation~ and settin~ Monday~ the l~th day of .September, 1947, at the hour of 8 o Wclock P.M. ~ at the CouD~il Chambers in the City · Hall in the City of Bakersfield, State of California, as the day, hour and place when and where ar~ person owr~D~ real property w~thin such territory so proposed to be annexed and havin~ an~ obJect~ons to the proposed annexation may appear before the le§islative body and show cause why such territory should not be so annexed; and ~, said resolution was published for at least once a week for two successive weeks prior, to-said hearinE in the Bakersfield Californian, a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Bakersfield~ the municipal corporation to which it is proposed to 0 annex such territory; and W~/~AS, no written protests were filed against the proposed annexation by ar~V owner of property within tB~ territory propssed to be annexed. NOW~ T~EFOI~ BE IT OBDAINED BY T~E COUNCIL OF THE CIT~ OF BAKE~SFI~.D, as follows ~ SECTION 1. That the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby approves. the annexation and inclusion within the incorporated limits of the City of Bakersfield, of that certain uninhabited ter. ritory designated as a parcel of land bounded on the south by the south 1~ of Columbus Street, on the west by the east line of Union Avenue, on the north by the south line of Monte Vista Drive and on the east by the west · line of Loma Linda Drive, being further described A parcel of land in the S._W. 1/4 of S. W. 1/4 of S.ec.tion 17., Township 29 South, Range 20 East, M. D. B. & M., which parce~ of land is more particularly described as follows~ Beginning at the southeast corner of the intersection of Union Avenue and Columbus Street as said Avenue is shown e nrth_e Ma.p of "Amdizzi Olcese Co. Annex to Kern City," n oounty, California, as recorded July 16, 1907, Book 1, page 102 of Maps in the Official Records of said County, and as 'said Columbus Street is described in deed of same - to the County of Kern. State of California, recorded April 2, '1937, on page. 238 o~. ~ook 708 Official Records of F~rn County, 'State of California, thence northerly along the easterly line of said Union Averme and its northerly continuation to a point 30.00 feet distant southerly from the north line of the south- west quarter of ~th~e_sout .h~e. st quarter of Section 17, Township 29 South, Range ~o ,:astj ~.ount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence easterly paralle~ with the north line of said southwest quarter of the southwest quarter, to a point 30.00 feet distant westerly from the. east line of said southwest quarter of the southwest quarter, thence southerly parallel with said east line of said southwest quarter of the southwest quarter and its southerly continuation to the south line of said Columbus Street; thence westerly along the south line of said Columbus Street to the point of beginning.
