.AN 0RDIN~NCE .APPROVING ~Ah~E~ATION OF A ~
RARCEL OF UNII~HABITED TERRITORY TO THE
CITY OF B.AKERSFIk~.D, C.~LIFORNI~A.
WHERE.AS, a petition was filed with the council of the City
of Bakersfield on the 8th day of December, 19%?, reque~$~ing that
certain uninhabited territory therein described be annexed and
included within the incorporated limits of the City of Bakersfield, and
WHEREAS, said petition was signed by the owners of not less
than one-fourth (l/S) of the area of the land in such ~erritory, and
representing not less than one-fourth (1/%) of the assessed value of
such territory according to the last preceding equalized assessment
roll of the County of I~ern; and~
~WHERE.AS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield did on the
8th day of December~ 19%7, pass a resolution in compliance with the
provisions of the ~Annexation of Uninhabited Territory .Act of 19~9,
Statutes of 19~9, 'Chapter 297, as amended, specifically describing
the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City
of Bakersfield, and designating such territory by an appropriate
identification, and setting Monday, .the 29th day of December, 19$7,
at the hour of 8 o'clock P.M., at the Council Chambers in the City
Hall in the City of Bakersfield, State of California, as the day~ hour
and place when and where any person owning real property within such
territory so proposed to be annexed and having any objections to the
proposed annexation may appear before the legislative body and show
cause why such territory should not be so annexed; and
WHEREAS, said resolution was published for at least once a
week for two successive weeks prior to said hearing in the Bakersfield
californian, a newspaper of general circulation published in the City
of Bakersfield, the municipal corporation to which it is proposed to
annex such territory; and
~:~fHEREAS, no written protests were filed against the proposed
annexation by any owner of property within the territory proposed to
be annexed.
NOW~ THEREFORE,. BE IT .ORDAIRqED BY TEE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD, as folloWs:
SECTION 1.
That the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby approves
the annexation and inclusion.within the .incorporated limits of the
City of Bakersfield, of that certain uninhabited territory designated
as the southwesterly portion of Block 34 in Drury's .Addition to Kern,
being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the northerly
line of Jefferson Street (formerly Main Street) with the
easterly corporate limits of the City of Bakersfield,
California; thence North 0° 08' 00" East, _along said east-
erly corporate limits, a distance of 2~.3U feet; thence
South 73° 28' }?" East parallel with the northerly line
of said Jefferson Street a distance of 96.72 feet to the
westerly line of Lot No. ll in Block No. }4 in Drury's
.Addition to Kern as recorded in Map Book No. l, page
of the Official Records of Kern County, California; thence
South 16° 31' 08" West, 24~.00 feet along a line identical,
in position and bearing~ with the westerly lines of Lots
No. ll & No. 22 in said block and addition, to the said
northerly line of Jefferson Street; thence North 73° 28'
37" West 24.68 feet along the said northerly line of
Jefferson Street to the point of beginning, containing
0.341 acres of land and being comprised of Lot No. 21,
portions of Lots Nos. 12, 13 and 14, and that portion of
the alley that lies adjacent thereto,' all in said Block.
I 'HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 29th day of December~ 19~7~ by the
following vote:
