WHEREAS~ a petition was filed with the Council of the City
of Bakersfield on the 19th day of May, 1948, requesting that
certain uninhabited territory therein described be annexed and in-
cluded within the incorporated limits of the City of Bakersfield, and
WP~JtEAS, said petition was signed by the owners of not less
than one-fourth (1/4) of the area of the land in such territory, and
representing not less than one-fourth (1/4) of the assessed 'value
of such territory according to the last preceding equalized assess-
ment roll of the C'ounty of Kern, and
WHEREA$~ the territory described in said petition is contigu-
ous to the City of Bakersfield, and
%~HEREAS~ the Council of the City of Bakersfield did on the
24th day of May, 1948, pass a resolution in compliance with the
provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory .Act of 1939,
Statutes of 1939, Chapter .297, as amended, specifically describing
the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the
City of Bakersfield, and designating such territory by an appro-
priate identification, and setti~ Mom~ay, the 21st day of June~
1948, at the hour of 8 o'clock PiM., at the Council Chambers in
the City Hall in the City of Bakersfield, State of California~ as
the day~ hour and place when and where any person owning real property
within such territory so proposed to be annexed and having any
objections to the proposed annexation may appear before the legis-
lative body and show cause why such territory should not be so
V~AS~ said resolution was published for at least once a
week for two successive weeks prior to said hearing in the Bakersfield
Californian, a newspaper of general circulation published in the
City of Bakersfield, the municipal corporation to which it is pro-
posed to annex such territory, a~
~HtEREAS, no written protests were filed against the proposed
annexation by any owner of property within the territory proposed to
be annexed.
N05¥, TNR. REFORE~ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
B.AKERSFIE~D, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby approves
the annexation and inclusion within the incorporated limits of the
City of Bakersfield, of that certain uninhabited territory desig~ted
as that portion of the west half of Sec. 20, T. 29 S., R. 28 E., M. D.
B. & M., that is bounded on the north by a southern boundary of a
portion of said City known as Tract No. 1258, on the east by a western
boundary of the same portion of said City, on the south by a northern
boundary of a portion of said City and on the west by the ~astern line
of Union Avenue, being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the eastern line ·
of Union .Avenue, as the same is shown on the recorded map
of the "Ardizzi-Olcese Company Annex to Kern City," with
the southern boundary line of Tract No. 1258, as same is
shown on the recorded map thereof; thence south 0° 13' 1~"
west, along the east line of Union .Avenue and extension
thereof a distance of 190.00 feet to the center line of
Bernard Street, same being the south line of the Northwest
1/4 of said Sec. 20; thence south 0° 13' 17" west a dis-
tance of 40.00 feet to the southeas, t corner of Union Avenue
and Ber~mrd Street as same is shown on the recorded map of
"Alta Vista No. 2" Subdivision, said corner being on the
northern limits of a portion of the City of Bakersfield;
thence south 89° 59' 4%" east a distance of 240.30 feet
along said northern limits of said City to-a point; thence
m~rth O0° 00' 15" east along the west line, and its southern
extension~ of the north and south alley in said Tract No.
1258 a distance of 230.00 feet, said west line being a ..

line of Tract No. 1258, same being a southern limit of a
portion of said City; thence north 89° 59~ 45" west along
last mentioned southern limits a distance of 239.43 feet
to the east line of Union .Avenue and point of beginning,
containim~ 1.27 acres of land, more or less.

I HEB~Y CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regu-
lar meeting thereof held on the 21st day of June, 1948, by the
following vote:
