WHE,WEAS, a petition was filed with the Council ~.f th~ City of Bakersfield
ou the llth day of August, 1948, requestinz that certain un~uhabited territory
therein dese~lbed be annexed and included within the incorporated limits of
the City of Bakersfield, and
WHEREAS, said petition was signed by the owners of not less than one-
fourth (1/4) of the area of the laud in such territory, and representing not
less than one-fourth (1/4) of the assessed value of such territory according
to the last preceding equ~_Nd, zc-.d assessment roll of the County of Fern, and
UffER~, the territory described in said petition is contiguous to the
City of Bakersfield, and
:.'~JEREA~, the Cmmcil of the City of Bakersfield did, on the 16th day
of August, 19~8, pass a resolution in compliance with the provisions, of the
Annexation of Uninhabited Territory .Act of 1939, S~atutes of 1939~ Chapter
297, as amended, specifics21y desc~.bing bhe b6undaries of the territory so
proposed to be am~exed to the City of Bakersfield, and designating such
territo~ by an appropriate identification, and setting Tuesday~ September 7~
1948, at the hour of 8 o'clock P. ~o, at the Council Chambers in the City
Hall in the City of Bakersfield, State of Califor~.ia, as the da~v~ hour and
place w~en and where any per~on owr&ng re~_l property within such territory so
proposed to be annexed and having any objections to the prcposed annexation
may appear b~fore tbs legislative body and show cause why such territory sho~Gd
not be so a~.nez, ed; and

two successive weeks prior to said heari~ in the Bakersfield Californian,.
