~dTEREAs, an emergency exists making it necessary to provide for
the daily operation of municipal departments,
NO~ THEREFORE, BE IT ORD. AIi'~D BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
B.~W3~RSFIE~D, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section % of Emergency Ordinance No. ?95, New Series, be
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section %. Persons employed for the performance of temporary
services in the several departments of the city shall be paid at a
rate per hour for actual time spent in the performance of the duties
of their employment. The rate of DaY for such employees shall be
computed as follows: For all positions or employments which have a
regular weekly work schedule of forty-one hours or less, the rate of
pay shall be the monthly rate provided for such employment divided
by the number 16%; for all positions or employments which have a
regular weekly work schedule of forty-four or forty-fOur and one-half
hours, the rate of pay shall be the monthly rate ·divided by the number
191; for all positions or employments which have a-regular weekly
work schedule of forty-eight hours the rate of pay shall be the monthly
rate divided by the number 208. In determining the hourly rate as
herein provided, computation shall be made to the nearest one-half cent.
This section shall not apply to those officers and employees who
are paid in accordance with Schedule No. 2%, or a schedule higher than
No. 25, or those compensated at.a single rate which exceeds three
hundred dollars'per-month.
SECTION 2.
That subsection (a) of Section 9 of Emergency Ordinance No. ?95,
New Series, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto,
three new classifications, to read as follows:
Schedule NO. Class
18 Parking Meter Maintenance Man
20 Storekeeper .
20 Sweeper Operator
SECTION 3.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure
within the meaning of Section 25 of the Charter of the City of Bakers-
field, State of California, and necessary to provide for the daily
operation of municipal departments and shall be effective on and
after the 1st day of January, 19$9.

field, at a regular meeting, thereof held on the 27th day December,
