AN ORDINANCE OF .THE CITY ·0F BAKERSFIELD,
CALI·FORNIA, ·PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE
OF B0~DS OF SAID CITY' IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,200,000 FOR THE ACQUISITION AND CON-
STRUCTION BY SAID CITY OF A CERTAIN
MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT.
V;~EREAS,' pursuant to Ordinance No. 874 N.S. of the
City of Bakersfield, California, a special municipal election
was duly and regularly held in said City on the 6th day of
J~ne, 1950, at which election 'there was submitted to the
qualified voters .of said city the following proposition,
to wit:
.. "BAKERSFIELD BOND PRoPosITION: Shall the
City of-Bakersfield 'incur a· bonded indebtedness
in the principa~l sum of $1,200,000 for the ac-
~uisition and construction of a certain municipal
improvement, to wit: a sewage treatment plant',
with main trunk sewers and. outfall sewer leading
thereto, 'together with the acquisition of all
machinery, apparatus, appurtenances and other
property necessary therefor?"
and
WHEREAS, said proposition received the affirmative
vote and assent of more than two-thirds'of all of the' qualified
Voters of said'city voting at said election, and Said City is
now authorized to issue bonds in the amount and for the pur-
po~S' hereinbefore specified;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by ~he Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
Section 1. That bonds of the City of Bakersfield
in the principal sum"of $1,200,000 be issued and sold for the
purposes set forth in said bond proposition in the recital~~''~.
hereof. Said bonds, shall be'designated S~F-~'BONDS, 1951,
shall be one thousand two hundred (1,200). in number, numbered
i to 1200, inclusive, and shall' be of the denomination of
$1.,000 each.' Said bonds shall b~ dated January 1,' 1951, and
shall be payable in consecutive numerica~ order, $3.0,000 on
January i in each of the years 1952 and. 1953, and $60,000 on
.January'l in each of the years 1954 to 1972, inclusive.
Said bonds shall bear interest, at a rate to be here-
after'fixed by resolution, but not to exceed four and one-half
per cent (~-1/2)'per annum, payable semiannually on the first
days. of January and July of each year. Said bonds and the'-'
interest thereon shall be payable in lawful money of the United
states of America at the office of the City Treasurer of the
City of Bakersfield, in the City of Bakersfield, Calif6rnia.
Section 2. That the Mayor of the City of Bakersfield
and the Treasurer of said City are hereby, authorized and
directed to sign all of said bonds (which'signatures, .or
either of them, 'may be printed,'lithographed or .engrave~), and
the. Clerk of'said City is hereby authorized and directed to
countersign said bo~ds and to affix thereto the corporate seal
of said City., and the Treasurer of said City .is hereby authorized
'and directed to 'sign the interest coupons of said bonds'by his
printed, lithographed or engraved facsimile signature, and' to
number said interest coupons of each of' said bonds consecutively.

situated in the County of Kern, State of California,.
FOR .VALUE RECEIVED, .hereby acknowledges its indebted'
ness .and promises to p.a.y the bearer hereof the'sum of
ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00) on the first day of
January, 19 , with interest thereon at the rate' Of

each and every year from 'the date hereof until this bond
is paid, on .presentation and surrender of the respective

a tax sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds and such
part of the principal thereof as will become due before the
proceeds Of a tax levied at the next general tax levy will be
