BE .IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Subsection 29 of Section 5 of Ordinance No. 681 New Series
is hereby amended to read as follows:
29. Junk Dealers and Collectors -- (a) For the purpose of
this ordinance a "Junk dealer" is defined to be any person, firm
or corporation, having a fixed place of business in the City of
Bakersfield, who car~ies on~ conducts, maintains or engages in the
business of buying, selling, or otherwise dealing in or acquiring,
old bottles, scraps, pieces of metal, rags, old rope or any old or ·
used article not to be used in its former state or condition.
(b) For the purpose of this ordinance a "Junk collector" is
defined to be any person, firm or corporation, not having a fixed
Place of business in the City of Bakersfield, who goes from house
to house, or from place to place, gathering, collecting, buying,
selling, or otherwise dealing in or acquiring any old b'ottles,
scraps, pieces of metal, rags, old rope, or any old or used article
not to be used in its former state or condition.
(c) No person, firm or corporation shall be deemed or consid-
ered a Junk dealer or Junk collector within the 'meaning of this
ordinance solely by reason of buying and/or selling any of the
a~ticles mentioned in subsections (d) and (e) hereof from or to a
J~ukode_aler as hereinab~v.e defined.~
(d) For every Junk dealer, the license tax shall be Fifty
Dollars ($50.00) semiannually, plus Ten Dollars ($10.00) semiannually
for each vehicle over one used in said business.

(e) For every junk collector, the license tax shall be Twenty
Dollars ($20.00) semiannually, plus Ten Dollars ($10.00) semiannually
for each vehicle over one used in said business. Provided, that any
pers6n, firm or corporation holding a valid license to engage in the
business of Junk dealer or Junk collector issued by the County of
Kern shall be entitled to a license to engage in the business of Junk
collector in tlhe City of Bakersfield without payment of the afore-
mentioned license tax. Such Junk collectors shall, however, comply
with all other provisions of this ordinance and all other ordinances
of this city pertaining to Junk collectors.

I HEREBY' CERTIFY. that the foregoing Ordinance was passed and
'adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meet-
ing thereof held on the 29th day .of October, 1951, by .the following
