AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 910 NEW SERIES OF THE CITY OF BAKERS-
FIELD, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, on the 30th day of July, 1951, the City Council
of the City of Bakersfield passed and adopted Ordinance No. 910 New
Series, which ordinance adopted a Uniform Plumbing Code for the
City of Bakersfield, and
WHEREAS, since the adoption of said ordinance, it has'
become evident that said ordinance should be amended in certain
particulars in order to avoid certain drastic changes in plumbing
regulations which have existed and been found satisfactory for a
number of yearns, and if such regulations amc changed, unnecessary
confusion will result, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield has deter-
mined upon the basis of such facts that an emergency exists making
it necessary to provide for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety and for the daily operation of a municipal depart-
merit by the passage of an emergency ordinance amending said Ordinance
No. 910 New Series.
NOW, THEREPORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, as follows:
SECTION 1
Section 801 of the Uniform Plumbing Code, 1948 Edition,
adopted by the provisions of Ordinance No. 910 New Series of the
City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows:.
Sec. 801. House Drain and House Sewer Materials. The house
sewer, beginning two (2) feet from any building or structure, shall
be of cast iron pipe, vitrified clay pipe of approved standards or
bituminized fibre pipe complying with the st.anda~ds, set forth in
Section 801.1 hereof.

SECTION 21.
There is hereby added to said Uniform Plumbing Code, a
new section, to be numbered 801.1, to read as follows:
Sec. 801.1. Bituminized Fibre Pipe. Notwithstanding any
other provision of this Code, the house sewer only may be of bitumin-
ized fibre, pipe conforming to all requirements of Commercial Standard
0Sl16-1~1~ as issued by the National Bumeau of Standards 'of the United
States Department of Commerce.
Three copies of said Commercial Standard CSl16-)];! sine on
file in the office of the City Clerk for use and examination of the
public.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance
within the' meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City of.
Bakersfield, and shall take effect immediately upon its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
