AN ORDINANCE A~LENDING SUBDIVISION (a) OF
SECTION 3 AND SUBDIVISIONS (a) AND (f)
OF SECTION 8 OF ORDINANCE NO. 87-9 NEW SER-
~ES 0F THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield~
as fellows:
SECTION 1.
That Subdivision (a) of Section 3 of Ordinance No. 879 New
Series, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the
fellowing compensation schedules:

SECTION 2,
That Subdivision (a) of Sectien 8 of Ordinance 'No. 879 New Series
of th~ City oI: Bakersfield, be and the same is hereby amended by '"-
adding thereto the following classes of empleyment, and by changing
the Schedule Number for City Manager and Chief Building Inspector,
as follews:

SECTION 3.
That Subdivision (f) of Section 8 of Ordinance No. 879 New Series
be and"the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
(f) The City Council ,may by resolution place an officer Or
employee of the City in a step in the sslary schedule to which his
position is allocated by this amendment different from that provided
in subsection (e) of said Section 8, when it finds and determines
that such action is Justified .by the nature of the position held by
such officer or employee and the individual capabilities and experience
of the officer or employee involved, and is in conformity with the
objects and p~poses of the basic salary plan. Any officer or
employee so placed shall be paid the salary fixed for such step until
he advances to the next higher step, if any, pursuant to this ordinance.
Time of service necessary for advancement to the next highest step
shall be computed from April 1, 19520

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regula~
meeting thereof held en the 25th day of February, 1952, by th~
