ESTA~I, XSP~E~T OF PAREi~G ~ETER ~.ONES AND PARXING METER
SPACES. ~he City Council of the City 'of ~akersfteld shall by
~esolution establish pa~king meter zones in such portions of tho
City of Bakersfield as in their disc~®tion will facilitate the
orderly fXow of vehicula~ traffic, the most efficient use of
available packing space and enforcement of pa~king ~egnlationso
Upon the establis~,~_nt of such pa~king meter zones by the City
Council~ tho City ~anager shall cause pa~king meters to be installed
therein and shall cause pa~king meter spaces to be designated as
ho~oinafte~ pFovided~ and shall fix the time limitations for legal
pa~king in such zones and shall indicate the time limitation_a
designating the sams On the pa~king meter or meters or by approp-
rials signs and/or ou~b markings posted in compliance with tho
traffic c~inaneos of tho City of Bakorsfioldo Ho shall cause

tim shall be secured by the deposit of an additional coin of one

except as othex~rlse permitted b~ this ordinance, 'without immediately
depositing in the pa~king meter adjacent to said space such lawful
coin or coins of the United States as a~e ~equi~ed by such meter
and as designated by directions on the mete~ and when ~equl~e~ by
the directions on the mster~ setting in operation the timing
mechanism thereof in accordance with said di~ections~ unless said
pa~king mete~ indicates at the time such vehicle is pa~ked that
an unexpired portion r~mains of the period for which a coin or
coins has been previously deposited, l~ovided~ howevers that the
standing or pa~king of a vehicle in any parking meter space beyond
the maximum legal pa~king time shall constitute a violation of
this 'o~dinance~ regardless of the numbe~ or denominations of coins
deposited,
