AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION I OF EMERGENCY
ORDINANCE NO. 456, NEW SERIES OF TEE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
as follows:
SECTION 1 ·
That Section I of Emergency Ordinance No. 456, New Series
of the City of Bakersfield, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to commence the operations for, or to drill an
oil and/or gas well within the limits of the City of Bakersfield,
provided, however, that said restriction shall not apply to prop-
erty which has been or may be annexed to tD~ City of Bakersfield
and on which leases or agreements for the drilling of oil and/or
gas wells had been entered into, or on which drilling for oil
and/or gas was already commenced at the time of annexation.
SECTION 2·
This ordinance shall be effective thirty days from and
after the date of its passage.
I ItEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 6th day of July, 1953, by .the follow-
ing vote
