AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AMXATION OF A PARCEL OF
UNINHABITED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
CALIFORNIA, AND PROVIDIT4G FOR THE TAXATION OF SAID
TERRITORY TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID
CITY.
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the Council of the City of
Bakersfields on the 21st day of April, 19559 requesting that certain
uninhabited territory therein described be annexed to and included with-
in the incorporated limits of the City of Bakersfield, and
WHEREAS, said petition was signed by the owners of one-fourth
of the lands, by area, and by assessed value as shown on the last equal-
ized assessment roll of the County of Kern., and
WHEREAS, the territory described in said petition is contiguous
to the City of Bakorsfield, and
WHEREASs said territory does not form a part of any other citys
and
WHEREAS, on the 21st day of April, 1955s, there was filed in the
office of the City Clary of the City of Balarsfields a written consent,
signed by all the owners of property included in said territory, that
said territory be subjected to taxation after the completion of such
annexation equally with property in the City of Bakersfield to pay the
bonded indebtedness of said City therein described, the issuance of bonds
to represent said indebtedness being provided for in Ordinance No- 8930
New Series, of the City of Bakersfield, together with City Hall Bonds
which said indebtedness is provided for in Ordinance No. 9509 New Series,
of the City of Bakersfields and any and all other indebtedness or liability
of the City which may accrue from and after the date thereof, and this
Council hereby determines that. said consent is signed by all the owners
of property included in said territory, and complies in every respect
with the provisions of Section 35319 of the Government Code of the State
of California, and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield, did, on the
25th day of April, 19559 pass a Resolution, being No, 38-55, in com.
pliance with the provisions of this Annexation of Uninhabited Territory
Act of 1939, and amsndments thereto, being Title 4a Division 25 Part 2,
Chapter 1, Article 5 of the Government Code of the State of California,
specificaily describing ,the boundaries of the terra;tort' so proposed to
be annexed to the City of Bekersfields and designating such territory
by an appropriate identification, and setting, Monday, May 23, 19558
at the hour of eight ooclock P,Mm, at the Council Chambers in the Police
Department Building, 1620 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, California, as
the day, hour and place when and where the City Council m uld hear pro-
tests made by any person owning real property within the aforesaid
territory, and
WEREASs said Resolution was published at least twice, but not
oftener than once a week in The Bakorsfield Californians a newspaper - of
general circulation published in the City of Balarsfields and also in
The Oildale Nears, a newspaper of general circulation published outside
of the City of Bakersfield, but in the county where said territory is
located, said publications having been completed at least twenty days
prior to the date set for said hearing, in compliance with Section 35311
of the Government Code, and
WHEREAS9 the City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield has caused
written notice of such proposed annexation to be given by mail at least
twenty days before the public hearing on said proposed annexation in
compliance with Subdivisions (a) and (b) of Section 35311 of the Govern®
ment Code of the State of Cal ifornias and
WHEREAS, no written protests were filed against the proposed
annexation by any owner of property within the territory proposed to be
annexed 9
NOW9 THEREFOREs BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield, as follows:

That the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby approee6 the
annexation and inclusion within the incorporated limits of the City of
Bakersfield, of that certain uninhabited territory designated as COLLEGE
HEIGHTS NO. 1., the boundaries of which are described aa".followso
A portion of the southeast quarter (SeEa 1/4) of Section
16 a• Township 29 South, Range 28 East, Pie D a Be & Map and
a portion of the Southwest quarter (Se We 1/4) of Section
159 Township 29 South., Range 28 East., said territory to be
designated as "College Heights No. Is" dn.d more particularly
described as follows
Beginning at the intersection of the corporate boundary of
the City of Bakersfield as said corporate boundary is defined

In the office of the County Recorder of Kern County, California.,
and the northerly boundary lines of the southeast quarter
(.Sa Eo 1/4) of Section 16. Township 29 South., Range 28 East,

boundary, on and along said northerly boundary line to the
northeast (Na E.) corner of said southeast quarter (Se Ea IA)
of Section 169 thence continuing easterly' along the northerly
boundary line of the southwest quarter (Sa TaWe 114) of Section
159 Township 29 South, Range 28 East, to the northeast (Na 'Ea)
corner of said southwest quarter .(Se We 1/4) of Section 15;
thence southerly along the easterl boundary line of the last
named southwest quarter (Se We 1/4tT to the southeast (S'® Eo)
corner of the.. north one-half (No 1/2) o:1 said southwest quarter
(So Wo IA) of. Section 15; thence westerly along the southerly
boundary line of said north one-half (N a 1/2) of the s outhwe s t

corner thereof; thence continuing westerly along the' southerly
boundary line of the north one-half (Ne 1/2) of the southeast
quarter (So Ea 1/4) .of said Section 16 to intersect the corporate
boundary of the City of Bakersfield, as said corporate boundary
is defined by said Ordinance Noe . 984, Ifew Series; thence north-
erly along said corporate boundary, on and along a line parallel
with and distant 55000 feet westerly* as measured perpendiculiar
to the easterly boundary line of said southeast quarter (S„ Ee1/4)
of Section_ 169 to intersect the northerly boundary line of said
southeast quarter (S e E e 1/4) of- Section 16 and to the point of
beginning, containing 81,593 acres more or less.
SECTION 20
Said territory, and the property located therein shall, upon .the
completion of tl.w annexation of the same to the City of Bakersfield, be

other indebtedness or liability of the City which may accrue from and
after the date thereof.
SECTION 3.

ing thereof held on the 23rd day of May, 1955, by the following vote:
