ORDINANCE NO., O 3 NEW SERIES
AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF PURCH-
ASING AGENT FOR THE CITY. OF BAKERSFIELD,
.PRESCRIBING METHODyOP APPOINTMENT, DEFIN-
ING HIS POWERS AND DUTIES, AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE3NOS.. 775 AND 837, BOTH NEW SERIES.,
OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT. ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
SECTION 1...
There is hereby created the office' of Purchasing-Agent for
the City of Bakersfield.
SECTION 2.
The City Manager. may employ a purchasing agent and such
..assistants as are necessary for him to properly fulfill the duties
of the position as hereinafter specified.
SECTION 3.
-The Purchasing Agent shall:
fa) Purchase for the city and its offices, materials,- sup,-
. .plies, furnishings, equipment and other personal property.
(b) Make purchases, rentals and purchase contracts only
" upon proper written requisition when authorized by ordinance or
regulations
(c) Rent for the City and .its •offices, furnishings and
. equipment, upon request of the City Council or City Manager.
(c7) Prepare specifications .or •other 'things 'required by this
ordinance, by the City Manager, or by resoiutions •of the City. Council,
all within the scope of the office of Purchasing Agent, as- '-set -forth
in the Job Description for said office.
The -City Council may, by :resolution, establish rules and
regulations requiring the purchasing agent to obtain .quotations
... . . 1.
s by the use offormal or informal bids, in connection with the
purchase of materials, supplies,' furnishings, equipment and other
personal property which such purchasing agent is ..authorized to
purchase for the City and its offices .
SECTION 5.
Ordinances Nos. 775, New. Series and 837, New Series of the
City of Bakersfield and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6.
This ordinance shall take effect thirty days from and after
the 'date of its passage.
