EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO.1.0' :_NEW SERIES
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE 'AMENDING SECTION 2
OF ORDINANCE NO. 877, NEW SERIES .OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that an.. emergency
exists making it necessary' t.o provide for the daily operation of a
. -municipal department.
-- NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of.: the City of
Bakersfield, as follows:'
SECTION 1.
That Section 2 of Ordinance' Ni. 6'77, New Series if. the City
of Bakersfield be and the ' same is hereby amended to read is follows:
Section 2.- IMPOSITION AND RATE OF TAX. . (a) ' An excise•
tax is hereby imposed on the use .or other consumption in :the-City of
Bakersfield of tangible personal property purchased from any retailer
on or_ ter the effective date of this ordinance, for use or other
consumption in said City; at the rate of one per cent (1%) . of the
'sales price of the property. .
(b) The taxes imposed -by this •ordinanc.e are in addition to
any and -all other taxes impossed by' any other ordinance: of the City
of- Bakersfield,
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an. emergency measure
within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City •f .Bakers-
field,, State of California, .and necessary to provide for the daily
operation of a unicipal department, and shall be-'effective on and
after the lsi; �.ay July, 1955.. .
