AN' EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION
1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 716, .NEW SERIES. OF THE .
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREA-$,' the City Council hereby declares that.. an emergency
exists making it ':necessary to provide f•or the daily operation of a
municipal department:
NOW, THEREFORE; BE, IT - ORDAINED by the Council, of -the- City
of Baker,sfi%eld,: as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 1 of Ordinance No, 716j' New Series of the City
of. Bakersfield be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section- l: For the. privilege of selling tangible- personal
property:,at retail, a .tax is hereby. imposed upon all retailers at the
. .rate of one per cent (1%) of the gross receipts of any' retailer from
the sale. -of- all tangible personal property sold at- retail in the City
• . of.. Bakersfield -on or after July •1, 1955'. . The tax imposed -by the
provisions of -this ordinance• is in addition to. any and all other.
..taxes. impose'd. .by any other ordinance of the City of Bakersfield.
SECTION 2.
,-This ordinance is .hereby declared to -be an -emergency measure
within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of -the City 'of .Bakers-
field,' State of California, and necessary to provide, for the daily
.. op oration- of a municipal department, and shall be'-effeetive on and
of ter the..is t• day of July, . 1955.
