BE .IT ORDAINED by 'the Council of the City of Bakersfield,· as'
follows:
· SECTION 1.
.... 'For the purposes of this ordinance, each calendar month is
hereby divided into two pay periods·, one of which commences on the
first day an~d expires on the fifteenth day of the month, and the other
"-of which commences on the sixteenth day and expires on the last day of
the month.
SECTION 2.
Officers and employees of the City of Bakersfield· may authorize
~eductions to be made from their salaries or wages for membership dues
in the Bakersfield Uity Employees' Association.
.... SEC IO 3.
Any officer or employee desiring to authorize deductions from
.-his or her Salary or wages for the purpose· aforesaid, shall file a
'~itten authorization with the City Auditor. Such authorization shall
state the amount which is authorized to be deducted, monthly from the
~alary or wages 'of the officer or employee so authorizing said deduction.
3uch written authorization shall be filed with the City Auditor not
later than five (5) days prior to the 'expiration of the pay period
from which the first. deduction so authorized is to be made.
The City AUditor is hereby authorized and directed to recognize
and act upon authorizations for salary or wage deductions filed as
~erein provided. Not later than the fifteenth day of each calendar
month he shall execute checks or warrants in the total, amo~uts .of
such deductions for. the-preceding calendar month, payable to the
-organization for which deductions have been made from salaries and
wages of said officers and employees.
S CTION
· Any officer or employee of the City who authorizes any deduc-
· tio~ from his salary or wages as aforesaid, may revoke Said. authoriza-
tion at any time. Such ··revocation shall be in w~iting, file~ with the
· City Auditor.' No. such revocation· shall affect any. deductions whiCh the
_-_city Auditor has made in the salary or wages due or payable to 'the.
· Sfficer or employee, so revoking for a pay period which has expired
prio~_j to the filing of such revocation.
SECTION 6. '
~or the purpose' of facilitating the operation of this ordinance,
the City Auditor is hereby authorized to prescribe and fumnish forms to
· '-be used in filing-authorizations to make the deductions herein provided
for, and in revoking authorizations previously filed.
SECTION 7.
Nothing. in' _~hi.s ordinance shall be construed to require or compel ..
.any officer or employee of the Oity of Bakersfield to authorize any
--'dedUction to be made in his or her salary or wages for the purpose'
herein provided. ."
SECTION 8.
