AN 0RDINANCE"AMENDING SUBDIVISION~
50 AND 51 OF SECTION 24 OF 0RDI-
NANCE NO. 1246, NEW SERIES, 0F THE
CI~YOF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows: ~
SEOTION 1.
That Subdivisions 50 and 51 of Section 24 of Ordinance
No. 1246, New Series, are hereby amended to read as follows:
50. Professions - Any person engaged in one .or more of
the following professions in the City of Bakersfield, and everyone
engaged in a profession not otherwise provided for herein and
maintaining an office in the City of Bakersfield, shall pay an
annual license tax based on the annual gross receiPts in accordance
with the following schedule:
Under $5,000 per year · · · $ 15.00 per year
$ 5,000 to $10,000 per'y;a; . . . 25.00 " "

20,000 to 30,000 " " · · · 55.00 " "
30,000 to 40,000 " "... · 70.00 " "

The following professions are specifically included in this
classification:
Appraiser
A~chitect
Attorney at Law
Audi$or or Accountant
Assayer
Bacteriologist
Chemist or Chemical Laboratory
Chiropodist
Chiropractor
Civil Engineer
Collection Agency
Dental Laboratory
Dentist
Electrical Engineer
Geologist
Hydraulic or Mining Engineer
Insurance Adjuster
Mechanical Engineer
Medical Laboratory
" Oculist
Optician
Optometrist
Osteopath
Physician
Real Estate
Structural Engineer
Surgeon
Surveyor
Veterinarian
and any and all other professions not heretnabove specifically set
forth.
This section shall apply to persons engaged in a profession
in the City, whether maintaining.an office in the City or not.
51. Real Estate - Any real estate broker, salesman, or real
estate firm who sells or leases real estate in the City, whether
maintaining an office in the City or not, shall pay an annual
license tax on gross commissions and fees received during the prior
year on real estate transactions within the City limits, in
accordance with the schedule for Professions as stated in subsection
50 above. Real estate salesmen need not report separately if their
g~oss receipts are included with the gross receipts of the real
estate broker.
This section shall not apply to persons renting or leasing
their own property.
Subdividers selling thcir own lots may 'exclude from gross
receipts the costs of land and development costs.
-' "Transactions!' as used herein shall mean the sale, rental
or lease of real property located within the City.

passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
