AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
.PROHIBITING THE SALE OR GIVING AWAY OF.
CERTAIN UNVF~NTED GAS BURNING APPLIANCES~·
BE IT ORDAINED by the C'ouncil of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or 'corporation to
'sell, _pffer For sale, to give away or offer to give away, to
display for the purpose of sale or for the purpose of giving away,
in the City of Bakersfield, any space heater or other gas burning
_ appliance except ranges, hot plates,· and refrigerators approved by
the Building Inspector of the City of Bakersfield For unrented use,
unless such space heater or other gas burning appliance is equipped
with a sealed combustion chamber and an opening to permit said
combustion chamber to be connected to an effective flue or vent
leading to the outside air.
SECTION 2.
._ Approval of any space heater or other gas burning appliance
for unvented use, by a nationally recognized testing agency shall
be prima facie evidence of compliance with the requirement of this
ordinance.for approval by the Building Inspector.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance, however, does not prohibit the sale or
transfer of any space heater or other gas burning appliance to
any junk dealer or junk collector duly licensed as such by the
City of Bakersfield.
