· - BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
as follows:
That subdivision (b).of Section 205 of Ordinance No. 705,
Ne~ Series of the City. of Bakersfield be and the same is hereby ..
amended to read as follows:
?'. ..... (b) BOARD OF EXAMINERS AND APPEALS - In order to determine
the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction and
to prov_ide for reasonable interpretations of the provisions of this
Ordinance, there shall 'be and is hereby created a Board of Examiners
and Appeals, consisting, of five members, who are qualified by ex-
perience---~hd, training to pass upon matters pertaining to Fire Preven-
.-tion. · The Fire.Chief shall be an ex-officio member and shall act as
'-.Secretary to the-Board. The Bo.ard of Examiners .and Appeals shall be
appointed by the. City Council, and shall hold office at its pleasure.
The Board shall adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conducting
its investigations and shall render all decisions and findings in
writing' to the Fire Chief with a duplicate copy to the appellant and.
may recommend to the City Council such new legislation as is consistent
therewith. Provided, however, that the authority and powers of the
Board of Examiners and Appeals shall not extend to the State Laws
referred to.here'in or to provisions of this ordinance pertaining to
PuBlic Assemblage or Public Safety. Members serving on said Board
of Examiners and' Appeals on 'the effective date of this amendment, are
hereby reappcinted.
