.AN ORDINANCE AFIENDINO
AND 2806(a) OF 0~D~N~CE NO. ~2~ ~ 8E~E3 OF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL of the City of Bakers£teld, as
follows=
SECTION 1.
That Section 1~01 of Volume I of the Uniform Building Code,
19~8 Edition, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto
the following=
Division 3. Patio Pools, canopies, awnings, cemports, arbors,
lath houses, g~eenhouses, and other shade st~uctuPes where not over
one thousand squaPe feet (1000 sq. ft.}.
SECTION 2.
That Section 1~03 of Volume I of the Unifo~n Building Code,
1958 Edition, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows=
For fire-resistive protection of exterior walls and, openings,
as dete~mined by location on pPoperty, see Section 50~ and Psmt Vo
Exceptions For Division 3 StrUc..tu~es, either detached
attached to buildings of Group I occupancy, the fire-resistive pro-
tection of exterior walls and openings a~e not required when all the
following conditions
(1) Roof area of Division 3 Structume does not exceed
62~ square feet.
(2) The side of Division 3 Structure adjacent to
property line does not exceed 25 feet.
(3) Ptfty per cent of the combined smsa of sides of
the Division 3 St~uctume is open. .... · .......
(4).)The combined roof smsa of Division 3
and Group I occupancy building attached does not
exceed 3000 square feet.
(5) The Division 3 Structure is located in Fire Zone III.
SECTION 3-
That Section 2305 of Volume I of the Untfox. m Building Code,
1958 Edition, be and the same is hereby amended by adding the
following paragraph:
Roofs for Group J Division .3 Structures, either detached or
attached to buildings of Group I occupancy, shall be designed for a
vertical live load of not less than 10 pounds pe~ square foot when
the roof dead load does not exceed 2.5 pounds per square foot.
SECTION 4-
That Section 2806 (a) of Volume I of the Uniform Building Code,
1958 Edition, be and the same is hereby amended by adding the
following paragraphs:
All pePlmeter concrete or masonry foundations or foundation
walls for buildings of Group H and I occupancies, including garage
attached, shall be ~etnfoPced with a mtni~_m of two conttfluo, us. one
half inch reinforcing b~s. One ba~ shall be placed two inches from
the top and the other ba~ three inches fPom the bottom of the founda-
tion or foundation wall.
All concrete floor slabs for buildings of Group H and I
occupancies, including garage attached, shall have a minimum thickness
of 3 5/8" (4" nominal) and shall be reinforced with a minimum of 6 x
6 by No.'lO x 10 welded wire mesh. This mesh shall be placed at the
center of the slab and shall extend into the perimeter foundation at
least eight inches.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall be effective thirty days f~om and after
the date of its passage.
