the orderly flow of traffic and the parking of vehicles, and to
provide for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property
and safety.
NOW, T~ORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That subdivision (e) of Section S of Ordinance No. 9~, New
Series of the City of Bakersfield be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows..
(e) Said parki~ meters shall be operated in said parking
meter zones every day between the hours of 8 A.M., and 6 P.M.,
except Sundays and holidays; provided, however, that within the
meaning of this ordinance the term "holidaye shall include the
following days only; The first of ~anua~y, thirtieth of May,
fourth of JUly, Tirst Monday in September, Thanksgiving day, and
the twenty-fifth of December. ~xenever any of the aforementioned
dates falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered
a holiday within the meaning of this ordinance.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is hereby de~.la~ed to be an emergency measure
within the meaning of Section 2~ of the Charter of the City of Bakers-
field, State of Oalifornia, and necessary to provide for the immediate'
preservation of the public peace, property and safety, and shall take
effect immediately upon its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY tha~ the foregoing Emergency Ordinance was
pass'ed and adopted bT the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 8th day of A~gust, 1960, bT the
