ORDINANCE NO. ,1346 NEW SERIES
AN ORDINANCE A~ENDING TITLE 10 OF TH~ MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, BY ADDING
THERETO A NEW CHAPTER TO BE NUMBERED 10.37, EN-
TITLED "RESORTING."
WHEREAS, recent events indicate there may be an influx of
prostitutes and other undesirable persons into the County of Kern
and the City of Bakersfield, therefore the City Council hereby de-
clares that an emergency exists for the immediate preservation of the
public health and peace which requires the passage of an emergency
ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORR, B~ IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield, as follows:
Section 1.
That Title 10 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield
be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new chapter to
be numbered 10.37, entitled "Resorting" which said Chapter shall read
as follows:
CHAPTF~ 10.37.
10.137.010. Resorting. No person shall resort to any
office building or to any room used or occupie~ in connection.with,
or under the same management as any cafe, restaurant, soft drink
parlor, liquor establishment or similar business, or to any publlc
park or to any of the buildings therein or to any vacant lot, room,
rooming house, lodging house, residence, apartment house, hotel, motel,
house trailer, motor vehicle, street or sidewalk for the purpose of
having sexual intercourse with a person to whom he or she is not
married, or for the purpose of performing or participating in any
lewd act with any such person.
Section 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure

within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City of
Bakersfield, State of California, and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and peace, and shall take effect
immediately upon its passage by the Council of the City of Bakers-
field.

I HEREBY CRRTINY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 6th day of February , 1961,
by the following vote:
