AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13.70.020 PARTS (a)
AND (b) OF CHAPTER 13.70 (ADVERTISING STRUCTURES,
ADVERTISING DISPLAYS AND SIGNS PROHIBITED ADJACENT
TO FREEWAYS) AND SECTION 13.70.040, PART (a) OF
CHAPTER 13.70 (EXISTING ADVERTISING STRUCTURES AND
SIGNS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERS-
FIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 13.70.020, Parts (a) and (b) of Chapter 13.70 of
the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(a) Within five hundred feet of any landscaped freeway where
such advertising structure or billboard is located in such a position
as to attract the attention of motorists operating vehicle~ om ~.id
landscaped freeway;
(b) (If such advertising structure or sign, because of its
location, size, nature or type constitutes or tends to create a
hazard to the safe and efficient operation of vehicles upon a land-
scaped freeway, or creates a condition which endangers %he safety of
persons or property thereon.
SECTION 2.
That Section 13.70.040, Part (a) of Chapter 13.70 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield be and the same is hereby
amended to read. as follows:
(a) Any advertising structure or sign which is now, or hereafter
shall be in violation of the provisions of Section 13.70.020 hereof,
shall be. removed within one (1) year of the effective date of this
chapter, or within one (1) year from the date when the project for the
landscaping of a freeway or any section thereof shall have been com-
pleted or accepted and the character of said section or sections shall
have been changed from a freeway to a landscaped freeway, whichever
is later.

I HEREBY CMRTIPY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 27th day of December, 1960, by the following vote:
