A~ ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7.40.110 (PUBLIC
DANCES AND DANCE HALLS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
that Section ?.40.110, ori§inally enacted as Ordinance No. 569, Section
11 on the 3rd day of September~ 1940~ entitled "An Ordinance Regulating
Public Dances and Public Dance Halls . . ." be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
7.40.110 Pe~-~tting persons under 16 years to attend dance.
It shall be unlawful to permit any person who has not reached the age
of sixteen years to attend or remain at any public dance unless such
person be accompanied by the parent or legal guardian of such person.
It shall be unlawful for any person to represent himself or herself to
have reached the age of sixteen years in order to attend or remain at
any public dance~ when such person in fact is under sixteen years of
age~ and it shall be unlawful for any person to falsely represent
himself or herself to have reached the age of sixteen years in order
to attend or. remain at any public dance~ when such person in fact is
under the age of sixteen years~ and it shall be unlawful for any person
to falsely represent himself or herself to be a parent or legal guardian
of any person in order that such person may attend or remain at any
public dance. The fact that a person under the age of sixteen years
secured adm~ssion to any such dance hall under false representations
as to age, or false representations that he or she was accompanied by
a parent or guardian, shall be no defense to the person holding such
peril t in a prosecution for violation of this chapter nor that such
person was admitted by an employee.

adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 24th day of July, 1961, by the following vote:
