AN ORDINANCE ALTERING THE BOUNDARIES OF
EACH OF THE SEVEN WARDS OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, as
fo llows:
SECTION 1.
The boundaries of the First Ward are hereby altered to read as
fo llows:
All of that part of the City of Bakersfield: beginning at the inter-
section of the west right of way line of Union Avenue and the centerline
of 4th Street, which point is on the City Limit line; thence westerly
along the centerline of 4th Street to the centerline of T Street;
thence northerly along the centerline of T Street to the centerline of
8th Street; thence westerly along the centerline of 8th Street to the
centerline of R Street; thence northerly along the centerline of R
Street to the centerline of California Avenue; thence westerly along
the centerline of California Avenue to the centerline of Chester Avenue;
thence northerly along the centerline of Chester Avenue to the center-
line of Truxtun Avenue; thence easterly along the centerline of
Truxtun Avenue to the centerline of Q Street; thence southerly along
the centerline of Q Street to the centerline of the AoT. & SoF. Railroad
right of way; thence northeasterly along the centerline of the A°To
SoF° Railroad right of way to the centerline of Baker Street; thence&
north easterly along the centerline of Baker Street to the centerline
of Monterey Street; thence southeasterly along the centerline of
Monterey Street to the centerline of Owens Street; thence northeasterly
along the centerline of Owens Street to intersect the City Limit line
at a point between Quincy and Flower Streets; thence southerly along
the City Limit line to the southwest corner of Section 21, Township
29 South, Range 28 East, MoD.M; thence easterly along the southerly
boundary of Section 21 to the south 1/4 corner; thence southerly and
southwesterly along the City Limit line to the north right of way line
of Brundage Lane; thence easterly along the City Limit line to the
easterly boundary of the City of Bakersfield Municipal Farm; thence
southerly along the easterly boundary of the Municipal Farm; thence
westerly along the southerly boundary of the Municipal Farm; thence
northerly along the westerly boundary of the Municipal Farm to the
southerly right of way line of Brundage Lane; thence westerly and
northerly along the City Limit line to the intersection of the northerly
prolongation of the easterly right of way line of King Street and the
northerly right of way line of Califo.r~ia Avenue; thence westerly
along the northerly right of way line of California Avenue to the
westerly right of way line of Union Avenue; thence southerly along the
westerly right of way line of Union Avenue to the point of beginning.
SECTION 2.
The boundaries of the Second Ward are hereby altered to read
as follows:
All of that part of the City of Bakersfield: beginning at the inter-
section of the centerline of Owens Street and the City Limit line at
a point between Quincy and Flower Streets; thence southwesterly along
the centerline of Owens Street to the centerline of Monterey Street;
thence northwesterly along the centerline of Monterey Street to the
centerline of Baker Street; ~hence southwesterly along the centerline
of Baker Street to the centerline of the A.T. & SoF. Railroad
of way; thence southwesterly along the. centerline of the A.T. &
Railroad right of way to the centerline of Q Street; thence northerly
along the centerline of Q Street to the centerline of 24th Street;
thence easterly along the centerline of 24th Street to the centerline
of Union Avenue; thence northerly along the centerline of Union Avenue
to the point of intersection with the easterly prolongation of the
southerly right of way line of 34th Street; thence westerly along the
last mentioned prolongation line to the point of intersection with
~he southerly prolongation of the westerly right-of-way line of Union
Avenue; thence northerly and easterly along the City Limit line west
of Union Avenue and north of Panorama Drive to. the intersection of
the City Limit Line and the nor;therly prolongation of the Centerline
of Bucknell Street; thence southwesterly along the prolongation line
and the centerline of Bucknell Street to the centerline of University
Avenue; thence southwesterly along the centerline of University Avenue
to the easterly right of way line of River Boulevard; thence northerly
along the City Limit line to City Limit line near Panorama Drive;
thence westerly along the City Limit line to Loma Linda Drive; thence
southerly and easterly along City Limit line to point of beginning.
Excepting that parcel not annexed to the City of Bakersfield north of
Niles Street and east of Union Avenue.
SECTION 3o
The boundaries of the Third Ward are hereby altered to read as
fo llows:
All of that part of the City of Bakersfield: beginning at the inter-
section of the City Limit line and the northerly prolongation of the
centerline of Bucknell Street; thence easterly along the City Limit
line north of Panorama Drive to the nor~theast corner of the City of
Bakersfield Municipal Sanitary Land Fill; thence southerly and westerly
along the City Limit line to the southeast corner of Section
Township 29 south~ Range 28 East~ M.D.M.; thence westerly along the
south line of Section 15 and along the north right-of-way line of
Columbus Street west of Section 15 to the easterly right-of-way line
of River Boulevard; thence northerly along the easterly right-of-way
line of River Boulevard to the centerline of University Avenue; thence
northeasterly along the centerline of University Avenue to the center-
line of Bucknell Street; thence northeasterly along the centerline and
the northerly prolongation of the centerline of Bucknell Street to
the point of beginning.
SECTION 4.
The boundaries of the Fourth Ward are hereby altered to read as
fo llows:
All of that part of the City of Bakersfield: beginning at the inter-
section of the centerline of Union Avenue and the easterly prolongation
of the southerly right-of-way line of 34th Street; thence southerly
along the centerline of Union Avenue to the centerline of 24th Street;
thence westerly along the centerline of 24th Street to the centerline
of Q Street; thence southerly along the centerline of Q Street to the
centerline of Truxtun Avenue; thence westerly along the centerline of
Truxtun Avenue to the centerline of Chester Avenue; thence southerly
along the centerline of Chester Avenue to the centerline of 15th
Street; thence westerly along the centerline of 15th Street to the
centerline of F Street; thence southerly along the centerline of F
Street to the centerline of 14th Street; thence westerly along the
centerline of 14th Street to the centerline of C Street; thence
southerly along centerline of C Street to the centerline of 13th
Street; thence westerly along the centerline of 13th Street to the
centerline of A Street; thence southerly along the centerline of A
Street to the centerline of California Avenue; thence westerly along
the centerline of California Avenue to a point on the east right-of-
way line of Oak Street, which point is on the City Limit line; thence
northerly along the City Limit line to the southeast bank of the Kern
.River; thence northeasterly along the southeast bank of the Kern River
to intersect the westerly prolongation of the north right-of-way line
of 34th Street; thence easterly along the City limit line to the point
of beginning.

The boundaries of the Fifth Ward are hereby aitered to read
as follows:
Ail of that part of the City of Bakersfield: beginning at the inter-
section of the centerline of California Avenue and the east right of
way line of Oak Street, which point is on the City Limit line; thence
easterly along the centerline of California Avenue to the centerline
of A Street; thence northerly along centerline of A Street to the
centerline of 13th Street; thence easterly along the centerline of 13th
Street to the centerline of C Street; thence northerly along the center-
line of C Street to the centerline of 14th Street; thence easterly
along the centerline of 14th Street to the centerline of F Street;
thence northerly along the centerline of F Street the point of inter-
section of the centerlines of 15th and F Streets; thence easterly
along the centerline of 15th Street to the centerline of Chester
Avenue; then'ce southerly along the centerline of Chester Avenue to the
centerline of California Avenue; thence easterly along the centerline
of California Avenue to the centerline of R Street; thence southerly
along the centerline of R Street to the centerline of 8th Street;
thence easterly along the centerline of 8th Street to the centerline
of T Street; thence southerly along the centerline of T Street to the
centerline of 4th Street; thence westerly along the centerline of 4th

The boundaries of the Sixth Ward are hereby altered to read

section of the east right-of-way line of Oak Street and the centerline
of Bank Str.eet, a point on the City Limit lin. e; thence easterly along
the centerl~ne of Bank Street to the centerl~ne of Pine Street; thence
northerly along the centerline of Pine Street to the centerline of
3rd Street; thence easterly along the centerline of 3rd Street to the
centerline of A Street; thence southerly along the centerline of A
Street to the centerline of 2nd Street; thence easterly along the
centerline of 2nd Street to the centerline of Oleander Avenue; thence
northerly along the centerline of Oleander Avenue to the centerline
of 3rd Street; thence easterly along the centerline of 3rd Street to

to the north boundary line of Tract 1075; thence along the City Limit
line of the various courses south of Brundage Lane, the area north
and east of the intersection of Oak Street and Brundage Lane and the
area north and west of the intersection of Oak Street and Brundage
Lane, to the point of beginning.
SECTION 7.
The boundaries of the Seventh Ward are hereby altered to read
as follows:
All of that part of the City of Bakersfield'. beginning at the inter-
section of the west right-of-way line of South H Street and the center-
line of La France Drive. which is a ~p_oint on the City Limit line;
thence easterly along the centerline of LaFrance Drive to the centerline
of Chester Avenue; thence northerly along the centerline of Chester
Avenue to the centerline of Terrace Way; thence easterly along the
centerline of Terrace Way to intersect the northerly prolongation of
the west boundary line of Tract 1539; thence southerly along the west
boundary line of Tract 1539; ~hence easterly along the south boundary
line of Tract 1539 to the centerline of South P Street; thence
northerly along the centerline of South P Street to the south right-
of-way line of Terrace Way; thence easterly along the south right of
way line of Terrace Way to the east boundary line of Tract 1587;
thence southerly along the east boundary line of Tracts 1587 and 1518
to the southeast corner of Tract 1518; thence westerly along the south
boundary line of Tract 1518 to the east right-of-way line of South
P Street; thence southerly along the east right-of-way line of South P
Street to the south right-of-way line of Belle Terrace; thence westerly
along the south right-of-way line of Belle Terrace to the east right-
of-way line of the Central Branch of the Kern Island Canal; thence
southerly and easterly along the City Limit line to the intersection
of the centerline of South P Street with the easterly prolongation of
the south line of Casa Loma Drive; thence westerly along the south
right-of-way line of Casa Loma Drive to the east right-of-way line of
the ~rn Island Canal; thence southerly along the east ri~ht-of-way
line of the Kern Island Canal to the north right-of-way line of
Wilson Road; thence easterly along the north right-of-way line of
Wilson Road to the northeast corner of Wilson Road and Chester Avenue;
thence along the .qarious courses of the City Limit line to the north-
east corner of Tract 2294; thence southerly along the east boundary
of Tract 2294 to the south right-of-way line of White Lane; thence
west along the south right-of-way line of White Lane to the centerline
of Monitor Street; thence southerly along the centerline of Monitor
Street and the southerly prolongation of its centerline to the center-
line of Pacheco Road; thence westerly along the centerline of Pacheco
Road to the east right-of-way line of South H Street; thence northerly
along the City Limit line to the southwest corner of South H Street
and Wilson Road; thence along various courses of the City Limit line
to the intersection of the centerline of H~ghes Lane and the north
right-of-way line of Wilson Road; thence along the various courses
of the City Limit line to the northwest corner of Ming Road and South
H Street; thence northerly along the west right-of-way line of South
H Street to the centerline of LaFrance Drive. the point of beginning°
SECTION 8.
This ordinance shall be submitted to referendum pursuant to
Section 11ol of the Charter of the City of Bakersfield. and in the
event a majority of the qualified registered electors voting hereon
vote in favor hereof~ shall become effective upon the passage of the
resolution of the Council of the City of Bakersfield declaring the
results of the election.
