WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield d~d, on the 19th
day of March, 1962, pass a Resolution being No. 19-62, in compliance
w~th the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of
1939, and =~-ndments thereto, being Title 4, Division 2, Part 2,
Chapter l, Article 5 of the Government Code of the State of California,
specifically describing the boundaries of the territory so proposed to
be annexed to the City of Bakersfield, sad designating such territory
by an appropriate name, and setting Monday, the 2$rd day of April, 1962,
at the hour of eight o~clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City
Hall, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, California, as the day, hour
and place when and where the City Council would hear protests made by
any person owning real property within the aforesaid territory, and
WI{EREAS, said Resolution was published at least twice, but
not oftener than once a week in The Bakersfield Californisa, a news-
paper of general circulation published in the City of Bakersfield,
also in The Oildale News, a newspaper of general circulation published
outside of the City of Bakersfield, but in the county where said
territory is located, said publications having been completed at least
twenty days prior to ~e date set for said hearing, in compliance
with Section 35311 of the Goverrenent Code, sad
WHARF, S, the City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield has caused
written notice of such proposed annexation to be given by mail at
least twenty days before the public hearing on said proposed annexation
to the persons entitled thereto, in compliance with subdiv~sions (a)
sad (b) of Section 35311 of said Government Code, and
W~REAS, at the time set for heartmg protests, no written
protests were filed against the proposed a~nexation by any owner of
property-within the territory proposed 'to. be-annexed; ...........
NOW, THEREFORe, BE IT O~DAINED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, as follows:

SECTION 1.
That the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby approves
the annexation to and inclusion within ~he incorporated Limits of the
City of Bakersfield, of that certain uninhabited ~erritory designa~ed
as "BRITE NO. 4"; and it is hereby Eatr~her ordained that said ~erri-
tory be and ~e same is hereby annexed to the City; that said territory
is described as follmes:
A parcel of land situate in ~e County of Kern, State of California,
and being a portion of Section l, Township 30 South, Range 27 East,
N.D
C~m,encing at the southuest corner of Lot 16,_ said corner being, the
intersection of the ~est line of Lot 16 and the centerline of the
road known as Terrace Way, in said Section l, as said corner is shoun
on the "Kern County Sales Nap No. 1 of Lan.ds of J. B. Haggin,
for record Nay 3, 1889, in ~e office of the County Recorder of said
Kern County; thence northerly al.ong the' ~esterly boundary of said Lot
16 a distance of 172 feet to intersect the ~esterly prolongation of
the sou~terly boundary of ~hat certain_ parcel of land described by
~hat particular Grant Deed dated Narch 26, 1947, .and recorded April
1947, in Book 1410, at page 378, Official Records of Kern County,
said point of intersection being a point on the corporate boundary of
the City of Bakersfield as same is defined by Ordinance No. 13~8, New
Series; ~hence easterly along last n~-d southerly boundary and
~esterly prolongation to intersect a line parallel with, distant 20
feet easterly as measured perpendicular to the ~escerly boundary~ of
Lot 16, said last named parallel line being the easterly l~ne o
Houchin Road of 40 £eet ~dth and said last named point of intersection
being the true point of beginning;
THENCE (1) easterly along said southerly boundary, and along the
corporate boundary of the City of Bakersfield, to a point
in the east line of the ~est 120 feet of Lot 16;
THENCE (2) southerly along said east l~ne of ~he west 120 feet of
LOt 16 to intersect tb~ north line of Terrace Way, of 60
feet in ~dth;
THENCE (3) ~esterly along the north line of Terrace Way to intersect
a line parallel ~-~th, distant 20 feet easterly, as
measured perpendicular to the mesterly boundary of said
Lot 16;
THENCE (4) northerly along last named parallel line to the true
point of beginning, containing 0.326 acres of land, more
or less;

the completion of the annexation of the same to the City of Bakersfield,
be subjected ~o taxation equally ~th other property in the City o£
Bakers£ield to pay ~he bonded indebtedness of the City of B. akersfield,
described in the aforementioned consent of ~he ozmers of property,
located therein, the issuance of bonds to represent said indebtedness
being provided for in Ordinance Ho. 893, New Series, in Ordinance No.
950, New Series, in Ordinance No. 1112, New Series, and in Ordinance
No. 1229, New Series, all of said City, and any and all other in-
debtedness or liability of the City .outs~and~n~ or authorized on and
after the da~e of completion of said annexation.
SECTTOH 2.
This ord£nance shall become effective ~hirty days from and
after ~he date of its passage.
