AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ADDING SECTION 3.68.115, ENTITLED
"SEVERANCE PAY," TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
that Section 3.68.115, entitled "Severance Pay," be added to the
Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield, said section to read
as follows:
Whenever any permanent employee who has not reached
volunta~.F retirement age shall cease to be employed by the City by
reason of the elimination of a department or of a position, the
employee shall be entitled to severance pay to be computed as
fo llows:
(a) Employees who have been employed by the City for one
(1) to five (5) years shall be paid an amount equivalent to
fifty per cent (50%) of their monthly salary.
(b) F. mployees who have been employed by the City for more
than five (5) years shall, in addition to the compensation stated
in subdivision (a), receive an amount equivalent to five per cent
(5%) of their monthly salary for each year of service or major
portion thereof in excess of five (5) years.
This section shall be retroactive in its application to
January 1, 1962.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 9th day of April, 1962, by the follow-
ing vote:
