AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFI~.D A~E~I~ SECTION 3.68. llS, EN-
TITLED t'SEVEPd~NCE PAY," OF THE Ku~ICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAILrED by the Council of the City o£ Bakersfield
that Section 3.68.115, entitled "Severance Pay," of ~ Hunicipal
Code of the City of Bakers[ield be and the same is hereby amended
to read as £ollows: · ·
l~henever any permanent employee who has not reached
normal retirement a§e shall cease to be employed by the City by
reason of the elimination of a depart~nent or of a position, the
employee shall be entitled to severance pay to be computed as
follows:
(a) Employees who have been employed by the City for one
(1) to five (5) years shall be paid an amount equivalent to
per cent (50%) of their monthly salary.
(b) Employees who have been employed by the City for
more than five (5) years shall, in addition to the compensation
stated in subdivision (a), receive an amount equivalent to five
per cent (5%) of their monthly salary for each year of service or
nmjor portion thereof in excess of five (5) years.
This section shall be retroactive in its application to
January 1, 1962.
