AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 11.04.765 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE PROVIDING A PRIMA FACIE
SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH ON MT. VERNON AVENUE
FROM THE CITY LIMIT~AT OLUMBUS AVENUE TO
PANORAMA DRIVE. '
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield, pursuant
to the provisions of Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the
State of Cal'ifornia, has determined, upon the basis of an engineering
and traffic survey, that a prima facie speed less than 65 miles per
hour, to ~it: 35 miles per hour, would be reasonable and safe
upon that portion of Mt. Vernon Avenue between the city limit line
at Columbus Avenue, to the southerly line of Panorama Drive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, as follows:
SECTION I
Section 11.04.765 of the Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read:
Section 11.04.765 Speed Limit on Mount Vernon Avenue.
A prima facie speed limit of thirty-five miles per hour is hereby
determined and declared to be the prima facie speed at which
vehicles may travel on Mt. Vernon Avenue, from the city limit line
at Columbus Avenue, to the southerly curb line of Panorama Drive.
SECTION II
This ordinance shall take effect thirty days from and
after the date of its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of October, 1962,
by the following vote:
