AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 10.24 (DISPLAYING
MERCHANDISE ON STREETS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 10.24.010 of the Municipal Code of the City
of Bakersfield be and t~e same is hereby amended to read as follows:
10.24.010 Unlawful to use sidewalks for display or
storage of merchandise. Except as hereinafter provided it shall be
unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to use the public
sidewalks of the City of Bakersfield, or any portion thereof, for
the display of merchandise, boxes, barrels, trucks or other
articles upon any portion of the public streets of the City of
Bakers fie id.
SECTION 2.
That Chapter 10.24 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Bakersfield be and the same is hereby amended by addinE Section
10.24.025 to read as follows:
10.24.025 Permit for use of public sidewalks. For the
purpose of local business promotion persons, firms or corporations,
havin~ a fixed place of business within the City of Bakersfield,
upon application to the City Manager, may obtain a per,air to
display merchandise upon the sidewalk immediately in front of the
fixed place of business upon such conditions as the City Manager
may impose with respect to traffic and pedestrian travel on the
streets and sidewalks in the vicinity of' said display. No such
permits shall be issued in excess of three per year and no such
permit shall be valid for a period of time in excess of twenty-four
hours for any person, firm or corporation.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 15th 'day of July, 1963, by
