RESOLUTION NO. 003-06(1}
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 003-06 DISPENSING
WITH BIDDING PROCEDURES DUE TO EMERGENCY
REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE/GENERATOR AT WASTEWATER
TREATMENT PLANT 2 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($500,000.00).
WHEREAS, on January 11, 2006, City Council adopted Resolution No. 003-06
dispensing with bidding to purchase a Caterpillar engine/generator for Wastewater Plant
2; and
WHEREAS, in the past, Caterpillar equipment has met San Joaquin Valley Air
Pollution Control District requirements; and
WHEREAS, installation of a new engine/generator will invoke newer stricter San
Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District emission requirements that the Caterpillar
engine/generator at the appropriate size for Plant 2 cannot attain, and, thus, the City
cannot purchase or install it; and
WHEREAS, subsequent research with other engine manufacturers has resulted
in location of an engine/generator manufactured by Deutz Corporation that can attain
and guarantee stricter air emission requirements without the need for additional money
to be allocated and in a delivery time which is acceptable under the circumstances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. Resolution No. 003-06 is hereby amended to permit staff to purchase an
engine/generator manufactured by Deutz Corporation for Treatment Plant
2 which will serve the purposes of the Caterpillar engine/generator
previously authorized and which meets the San Joaquin Valley Air
Pollution Control District Requirements.
3. Such substituted engine/generator can be purchased and installed for a
reduced amount from $700,000 to $500,000.
