AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 11.04.660 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD~ TO
MAKE SAID SECTION OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE COMPLY
WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CALIFORNIA VEHICLE
CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 11.04.660 of the Municipal Code of the City
of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows:
11.04.660 Removal of Vehicles From Street - Storage.
(a) Vehicles which have been parked or left standing upon any
public street or alley for longer than seventy-two (72) consecutive
hours~ shall be removed and stored under the direction of the
Police Department of the City of Bakersfield.
(b) In the event any vehicle is removed from a public
street or alley as authorized by paragraph (a) above~ the Police
Department shall give the notices as provided in Sections 22852 and
22853 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California~ and the
keeper of any garage in which any such vehicle is stored may have
a lien thereon for his compensation for towage and for caring for
and keeping safe such vehicle and may satisfy such lien upon com-
pliance with and under the conditions stated in Sections 22852 and
22853 of the Vehicle Code,
SECTION 2,
That Section 11.04.665 is hereby added to the Municipal
Code of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
11.04.665 Removal of Warned Vehicles. (a) Vehicles .
which have been parked or left standing upon any public street~
when the use of the street or a portion thereof is necessary for
the cleaning~ repair or construction of said street or for the
installation of under§round utilities~ may be removed in accordance
with the provisions of the California Vehicle Code where signs
givin§ notice that such vehicle m.y be removed are erected or
placed at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to removal.
(b) Vehicles which have been parked or left standing
upon any public street or alley may be removed and stored by the
Police Department of the City of Bakersfield where the use of the
street or alley or a portion thereof is necessary for the purpose
other than the normal flow of trafficl or for the movement of
equipment~ articles or structures of unusual sizel and the parking
of such vehicle would prohibit or interfere with such use or
movement and si~ns~ giving notice that such vehicle may be removed~
are erected or placed at least twenty-four. (24) hours prior to the
removal in accordance with the Vehicle Code of t/~e State of
California.
(c) When the Council of the City of Bakersfield has
passed an ordinance prohibiting parking of a vehicle upon any public
street or alley or portion thereof and signs have been posted
giving notice that such parking is forbidden., and that a vehicle
parking on said public street or alley will be removed~ said vehicle
may be removed pursuant to the provisions of the Vehicle Code of
the State of California and this Ordinance.
SECTION 3o
This Ordinance is effective thirty (30) days after its
adoption.

passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the27th day of January~ 1964~ by
