AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11o04 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD BY
ADDING SECTIONS 11.04.725 AND 11.04.726
PROHIBITING PARKING ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF
24TH STREET (STATE HIGHWAY 178).
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
that Chapter 11.04 is hereby amended by adding Sections 11.04.725
and 11.04.726 to read as follows:
11.04.725 PARKING PROHIBITED ON A PORTION OF 24TH STREET
WHICH IS CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY 178 (U. S. HIGHWAY 58). (a) When
appropriate signs are posted, no person shall stop, park, or leave
standing any vehicle whether attended or unattended, except when
necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance
with the directions of a peace officer or traffic control signal
device, on the north side of State Highway 178 (U.. S. Highway 58)
for a distance of 5'50 feet west of the west curb line of Union
Avenue.
(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to
the driver or owner of any service vehicle owned or operated by or
for or operated under contract with a utility or public utility,
whether privately, municipally or publicly owned, used in the
construction, operation, removal or repair of utility or public
utility property or facilities, when such vehicle is stopped,
standing or parked at the site of work involving the construction,
operation, removal or repair of such utility or public utility
property or facilities upon, in, over, under or adjacent to said
highway, or of a vehicle, whether privately, municipally, or
publicly owned, engaged in authorized work on said highway.
11o04.726 This ordinance shall cease to be operative
six months after receipt by the City Council of written notice of
withdrawal of approval of the Department of Public Works, of the
State of California.
This ordinance shall take effect thirty days from and
after the date of its passage.

I HEKEBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 6th day of Jul7 . 1964~
