HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 1745 OEDINANCE NO. 1745 NEW SERIES AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTIONS 3.18.030, 3.18.070, 3.18.140, 3.18.152 (a), (b) and (c), 3.18. 160 (b) AND 3.18. 180 (a) and (h) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 3.18.030 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.18.030 Basic Workweek. The standard workweek for permanent full-time employees of the City of Bakersfield shall be forty (40) hours for all classes of employment with the exception of Fire Department personnel. The Department Head, with the approval of the City Manager, shall establish the workday for employees. The computation of all employee benefits and salary schedule will be based on the standard workweek. SECTION 2. That Section 3.18.070 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding 'Clerical Aide~' to said section and "2.10 per hour". SECTION 3. That Section 3.18.140 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended by deleting subsection (e) and renumbering subsection (f) to (e) and subsection (g) to (f) in said section. SECTION 4. That subsections (a), (b) and (c) of Section 3.18.152 of the Bakersfield ~unicipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows: (a) Minimum T~ne. An employee who is directed to return to work to perform additional services after completion of his regular work period shall be authorized a minimum of two hours work. (b) Credit. Any call-back during which the employee performs two or more hours of work shall entitle him to an authorized credit for the number of hours actually worked to the nearest half-hour. (c) Prior to Work Period. Any call-back which occurs prior to and which continues through the beginning of the employee's regular work period shall not entitle the employee to the two hour minimum. Such call-back shall entitle the employee to an authorized credit of the number of hours actually worked to the nearest half-hour. SECTION 5. That subsection (b) of Section 3.18.160 of the Bakersfield Munic±pal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: (b) Written AuthorizationmFiling. Any employee desiring to authorize deductions from his or her salary or wages for the purpose aforesaid, shall file a written authorization with the Finance Director. Authorization for deductions from salary or wages for dues in employee organizations shall be filed annually. Such authorization shall state the amount which is authorized to be deducted each pay period from the salary or wages of the officer or employee. Such written authorization shall be filed with the Finance Director not later than five days p~.ior to the expiration of the pay period from which the first deduction so authorized is to be made. SECT ION 6. That subsections (a) and (h) of Section 3.18.180 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows: (a) City Manager to Designate. On the effective date of this section and in each December of every succeeding year, the City Manager, after consultation with each certified employee association or labor organization, shall submit a list of eight (8)' holidays to be observed by all city employees of the City of Bakersfield to the City Council for approval. In addition, on special occasions a holiday will be observed when designated by the President, Governor, or City Council. (h) Eligibility. All employees, except temporary or part-time, shall be eligible to holidays or compensatory time off or payment for such holidays. SECTION 7.
