AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ADDING CHAPTER 10.52 TO THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
PROHIBITING CERTAIN TAPED OR PRERECORDING
DEVICES UTILIZING POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT
EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SYSTEM.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
There is hereby added to the Municipal Code of the City
of Bakersfield Chapter 10.52 which reads as follows:
Chapter 10.52
RECORDING DEVICES
Sections:
10.52.010 Prohibited
10.52.020 Penalty
10.52.010 Taped or Prerecorded Messages Prohibited.
No person, firm, or corporation shall use or cause to be
used any automatic, electrical, or mechanical device or attachment
to any telephone that reproduces any taped or prerecorded messa§e
to report any police or fire emergency and which utilizes the
telephone trunk lines of the Police and Fire Departments of the City
of Bakersfield..
10.52.020 Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation knowingly
violating the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor, and ~pon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a
fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprison-
ment in the county jail for a period not exceeding six months, or
by both fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that. the foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of July, 1968, by
the following vote:
