AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 6.12.020 OF THE
ML~ICIPAL CODE CHANGING THE RATE OF TRANSIENT
LODGING TAX FROM 4% TO 5%.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 6.12.020 of the Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read:
6.12.020 Tax imposed--Rate--Revenue measure. On and after the
effective date of this section, there is hereby imposed and levied
on each and every transient a tax equivalent to five per centum
(5%) of the total amount paid for room rental by and for any such
transient to any hotel; which said tax shall be collected from such
transient at the time and in the manner hereinafter provided.
Said tax is levied for revenue purposes and is necessary for the
usual financial operation of the City of Bakersfield and when
collected shall be made a part of the general funds of said City.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective October 1, 1968.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of July, 1968, by
the following vote:
