AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 3.18 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 3.18.110,
ACTING APPOINTMENTS, TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS
AND RATES OF PAY.
BE IT oRDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 3.18.110 be added to the Municipal Code of
the City of Bakersfield to read as follows:
3.18.110 Acting:Appointments, Temporary Assignments~ and Rates
of Pay. ·
A. ACTING APPOINTMENTS OF PERMANENT EMPLOYEES. Department
Heads, with the a'pproval of the City Manager, may assign the duties
and responsibilities of a vacant position to a permanent employee
for a temporary ·period of time. Such compensation shall be within
the salary range of·the class so assigned.
B. TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS. Employees may be assigned to
'perform the duties of a higher class provide'd such assignment is
made in accordance with a Temporary Assignment ·policy 'previously
approved by the City Council. Such assignment shall result in a
5% salary increase Provided such increase is within the salary
range of the class so assigned.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its ·passage.

I T~REBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the ~4th day of November, 1969,
by the following vote:
