AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
AMENDING SECTION 3.18.200, SICK LEAVE,
BY ALLOWING SICK LEAVE IN CASE EMPLOYEE'S
SPOUSE OR MINOR CHILDREN ARE ILL OR INJURED
AND IN NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 3.18.200 of the Municipal Code of the City
of Bakersfield is amended as follows:
3.18.200 Sick Leave. (a) Policy. Sick leave shall not be
considered as a right which an employee may use at his discretion,
but shall be allowed only in case of necessity and actual sickness
or disability. Medical and dental appointments qualify for sick
leave.
Sick leave shall be allowed in case the employee's
spouse or minor children are ill or injured and in need of medical
attention, provided that they reside with the employee and no one
else is readily available to care for them.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days
from and after its adoption by the City Council of the City of
Bakersfield.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 6th day of July, 1970, by the
