HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 1899 ORDINANCE NO. 1899 NEW SERIES AN ORDINANCE OF THE 'COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 7.52. 190 "RATES AND FARES" OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. WHEREAS, there will be a minimum charge of One Dollar and Fifty Cents ($1.50) whenever a passenger has more than three parcels, and WHEREAS, it was the intention' of such provision of this section to provide a minimum charge of One Dollar and Fifty Cents ($1.50) only in such instances in which the taxicab operator needed to assist a passenger with more than three parcels. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: SECTION 1. Section 7.59~.190 of the Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 7.52.190 Rates and Fares. The rates and fares to be charged the public by taxicab carriers shall be as follows: (a) Fifty Cents (50¢) for the first one-fifth (1/5) mile or flag drop; Ten Cents (10¢) for each additional one-fifth (1/5) mile or fraction thereof. The waiting time rate shall be Six Dollars ($6.00) per hour, calibrated per hour. (b) There shall be no charge for extra passengers. (c) There will be a minimum charge of One Dollar and Fifty Cents ($1.50) whenever a taxicab operator must or is requested to assist a passenger with more than three parcels. (d) .The above, rates shall apply to any area within five miles from any exterior boundary of the City of Bakersfield. (e) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the issuance by any carrier, of .scrip, tokens or other evidence of advance payment for trips valued at Five Dollars ($5.00) or more in accordance with the above rates, at a discount not to exceed ten per cent (10%). SECTION 2.
