AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 3.18 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 3.18.135
PROVIDING DRIVER DIFFERENTIAL COMPENSATION IN
THE SANITATION DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, a dispute 'has arisen as to the amount of driver
differential compensation to be paid to Sanitation Crewmen I who
are assigned from time to time the duties and responsibilities of
Sanitation Crewmen II, and
WHEREAS, the operation of the Sanitation Division is
threatened unless such dispute is speedily settled, and
WHEREAS, this ordinance represents a mutual settlement
of the dispute.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of
the City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
There is hereby added to Chapter 3.18 of the Municipal
Code Section 3.18.135, which reads as follows:
Section .3.18.135 Driver Differential Compensation - Sanitation
Division -iPublic Works Department. A Crewman I assigned to the
duties and responsibilities of Crewman II shall be compensated at
the rate of pay of the Crewman II in the step 'held by the assigned
employee.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is an emergency ordinance wit~hin t~he
meaning of Section 24, City Charter, and shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 24th day of Mmy, 1971, by
the following vote:
