AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ADDING SECTIONS 17.25.024 AND
17.25.026 TO CHAPTER 17.25, ADDING SECTIONS
17.27.024 AND 17.27.026 TO CHAPTER 17.27,
AND ADDING SECTION 17.40. 024 TO CHAPTER
17.40 OF TITLE 17 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
PROVIDING FURTHER REGULATIONS FOR C-1 ZONE,
C-2 ZONE, AND P-ZONE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 17.25.024 is hereby added to Chapter 17.25
of Title 17 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to
read as follows:
17.25.024 Uses Permitted Subject to Planning Director Review
and Approval. The following uses may be permitted subject to
review and approval by the Planning Director:
1. Water pump stations.
SECTION 2.
That Section 17.25.026 is hereby added to Chapter 17.25
of Title 17 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to
read as follows:
17.25.026 Uses Permitted Subject to Conditional Use Permit.
The following uses may be permitted subject to a conditional use
permit in accordance with the procedures provided for in Chapters
17.60 and 17.64 of this title.
1. Drive-in, walk-up and take-out restaurants.
2. Health studios.
3. Schools of
4. Automatic or coin-operated car washes--2 bay
maximum.
5. Pet shops and small animal veterinary day clinics,
wholly within a building.
6. Nurseries (flowers and plants).
7. Radio and television stores.
8. Undertaking establishments, mortuaries and funeral
parlors.
9. Carpet, awning, blinds, mattress or upholstering
shops, including cleaning and repair, wholly within
a building.
10. Furniture stores.
11. Sporting goods stores.
12. Cleaning and pressing establishments using non-
inflammable and nonexplosive cleaning fluids.
13. New and used automobile sales lots.
14. Retail automobile parts.
15. Refrigerated lockers.
SECTION 3.
That Section 17.27.024 is hereby added to Chapter 17.27
of Title 17 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to
read as follows:
17.27.024 Uses Permitted Subject to Planning Director Review
and Approval. The following uses may be permitted subject to
review and approval by the Planning Director:

SECTION 4.
That Section 17.27.026 is here'by added to Chapter 17.27
of Title 17 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to
read as follows:
17.27.026 Uses Permitted Subject to Conditional Use Permit.
The following uses may be permitted subject to a conditional use
permit in accordance with the procedures provided for in Chapters
17.60 and 17.64 of this title:
1. Kennels.
~. 2. Clinics, hospitals, sanitariums or other buildings
for contagious, mental or drug or liquor addict cases.
3. Equestrian establishments, stables or riding
academies, schools or amusements.
4. Laboratories, experimental, research and testing.
5. Automobile repair and painting, wholly within a
building.
6. Retail and manufacturing of arts and crafts.
7. Tool rental and equipment.
SECTION 5.
That Section 17.40.024 is hereby added to Chapter 17.40
of Title 17 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to
read as follows:
17.40.024 Uses Permitted Subject to Plannin8 Commission Review
and Approval. The following uses may be permitted, subject to
review and alpproval by the Planning Commission in accordance with
the procedures provided for in Chapter 17.44 of this title:
1. On-premises advertising signs.
2. New and used automobile sales lots.
SECTION 6.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 28th day of June, 1971, by the following
