AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE SEVENTEEN OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD BY
CHANGING THE LAND USE ZONING OF THAT CERTAIN
PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD COMMONLY
KNOWN AS 1451 MADISON STREET.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the procedure set forth in
the provisions of Title 17 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Bakersfield, the Planning Commission and City Council have held
hearings respectively, on a petition to change the land use zoning
of that certain property in the City of Bakersfield commonly known
as 1451 Madison Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined after due
consideration of said petition and the recommendations of the Planning
Co~Lmtission herein on file, together with the reasons advanced at
the hearings for a change of zoning of said property, that a zoning
change should, be authorized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
That Section 17.12.020 (Zoning Map) of the Municipal Code
of the City of Bakersfield, be and the same is hereby amended by
changing the land use zoning of certain property in said City, the
boundaries of which property are shown on the map hereto attached
and made a part hereof, as follows:
Changing the zoning boundaries from an R-1
(Single Family Dwelling) Zone to an R-i-CH
(Single Family Dwelling-Church), or more
restrictive, Zone of that certain property
in the City of Bakersfield co~m~only known as
1451 Madison Street, being more particularly
described as follows:
That~portion of Lot 5 of Section 8, T30S, R28E,
M.D.B.M., County of Kern, Oity of Bakersfield,
State of California, according to that certain
Sales Map No. 1 of Lands of J.B. Haggin dated
March 16, 1889, and filed May 3, 1889 in the
Office of the County Recorder of Kern County,
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the southeasterly corner of the
parcel of land in that Deed from Kern County Land
Company to the Bakersfield School District of the
County of Kern, State of California, dated September
7, 1940 and recorded October 16, 1940 in the Office
of said County Recorder of said County (Kern) in
Book 976 of Official Records at Page 4, which is
also a point on the east line of said Lot 5, distant thereon
630.40 feet southerly of the northeast corner of said
Lot 5, as described in said Deed; thence westerly,
along the south line of said parcel, 440.00 feet;
thence southerly at right angles, 320.00 feet; thence
easterly at right angles 440.00 feet to a point on
the east line of said Lot 5; thence northerly along
said east line, 320.00 feet to the point of beginning.
EXCEPTING the right-of-way within Madison Street.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 31st day of January, 1972, by the
following vote:
