AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 8.72.010 OF THE
~NICIPAL CODE AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER
TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS FOR SUBURBAN SEWER
CONNECTIONS UNDER CERTAIN CO~[DITIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 8.72.010 of the Municipal Code is amended by
adding subsections (a) and (b) to read as follows:
8.72.010 (ia) Whenever an application is made for a suburban
sewer connection within an unincorporated area which constitutes
an island within the City, the City Engineer is authorized to enter
into an agreement for such sewer connection in accordance with this
chapter.
(b) The City Council may establish by Resolution other areas
of unincorporated territory within which the City Engineer is
authorized to enter into agreements for suburban sewer connection
in accordance with this chapter.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 21st day of August, 1972, by the follow-
