AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 3.18 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE ADDING SECTION 3.18. 175 PRO-
VIDING SEVERANCE PAY NOT APPLICABLE WHERE
BY LAW EMPLOYEES ARE INCLUDED IN ANOTHER
ENTITY.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
There is hereby added to Chapter 3.18 of the Municipal
Code, City of Bakersfield, Section 3.18.175, to read as follows:
3.18.175 Severance Pay Inapplicable. Whenever an employee or
department is transferred by operation of law or contract to another
governmental entity and by law no loss of benefits occur by reason
of such transfer, severance pay under Section 3.18.170 shall not
be applicable.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 8th day of JanuarY, 1973, by the
following vote:
