HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 2064 EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 2064 NEW SERIES AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM. WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield on October 10, 1972, adopted Resolution of Intention No. 67-72, giving due notice of intention to approve an amendment to the contract between City and PERS, providing for the payment of a monthly allowance to survivors of members of the retirement system, upon death before retirement; and WHEREAS, the Council has provided for funds for the City's contribution to PERS on account of said program; and WHEREAS, it is necessary that the said survivors allowance program begin as near January 1 of 1973 as practicable and the effec- tive date of such amendment cannot be earlier than the first day of a payroll period following the effectivity of final action of this Council; and WHEREAS, this ordinance will enable the said program to begin on January 8, 1973. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: SECTION 1. That an amendment to .the Contract between the City Council of the City of Bakersfield and the Board of Administration, California Public Employees' Retirement System is hereby authorized, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto, marked "Exhibit A", and by such reference made a part hereof as though herein set out in full. SECTION 2. The Mayor of the City of Bakersfield is hereby authorized, empowered, and directed to execute said amendment for and on behalf of the City of Bakersfield. SECTION 3.
