HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 2099 ORDINANCE NO. 2099 NEW SERIES AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ADDING SECTION 3.18. 156 TO AND AMENDING SECTION 3.18.180 (i) (2) OF, CHAPTER 3.18 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CONCERNING COMPENSATION FOR EMPLOYEES. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 3.18.156 is hereby added to Chapter 3.18 of Title 3 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield. 3.18.156 Ready Stand-by - Additional Compensation, Police Department. An employee of the Police Department who is directed to remain on ready stand-by during off-duty hours shall be compen- sated at the rate of $5 per 8-hour shift of such ready stand-by service. An employee actually called back to work during such assignment shall be paid the greater of the ready stand-by rate or the hourly rate for one and a half times the hours worked computed to the nearest one-tenth of an hour (6 minutes). Ail ready stand-by assignments must be authorized by the department head. SECTION 2. That Section 3.18.180 (i) (2) of Chapter 3.18 of Title 3 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.18. 180 (i) (2) Fire Department Employees. Eligible Fire Department employees who are required to work on a 24-hour duty shift basis and whose schedule does not allow observance of holidays shall be granted 'compensatory time off in lieu of designated holi- days at the rate of one-half of a 24-hour duty shift per holiday during each year. Such time off shall accrue as the holidays occur and shall be scheduled by and for the convenience of the Fire Department. Ail such employees may be paid at their regular shift rate of pay as determined by the department head, in lieu of six designated holidays at the rate of one-half of a 24-hour duty shift per holiday. One payment for all such holidays during each fiscal year not accumulated as compensatory time shall be made on the first payday in June of each year. Ail other eligible Fire Department employees who do not work on a 24-hour duty shift basis shall observe holidays in accordance with Section 3.18.180 (e). SECTION 3.
