AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT TO
THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
AND THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIRE-
MENT SYSTEM CONCERNING AN INCREASE OF CERTAIN
COST OF LIVING RETIREMENT ALLOWANCES AND
DIRECTING MAYOR TO EXECUTE ON BEHALF OF CITY.
BE liT ORDAINED by the Council o:f the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That a Contract between the City Council of the City of
Bakersfield and the Board of Administration, California Public
Employees' Retirement System is hereby authorized, a copy of said
Contract being attached hereto, marked "Exhibit A," and by such
reference made a part hereof as though herein set out in full.
SECTION 2.
That the Mayor of the City of Bakersfield is hereby
authorized, empowered, and directed to execute said Contract for
and on behalf of the City of Bakersfield.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 13t'h day of August , 1973,

A~END~NT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
BOARD OF AD~INISTRATION
PUHLIC E~PLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM
AND THE
CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
The Board o.f Administration, Public Employeest Retirement System, hereinafter
referred to as Board, and the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, hereinafter
referred to as ?~blic Agency, having entered into a contract under date of July 17,
1944, effective July l, 1944, and as amended effective January l, 1950, November l,
1957, October l, 1958, April l, 1965, October l, 1967, January l, 1971, June 26,
1972, January 22, 1973, and Nay 23, 1973, and as provided by Chapters 170 and 316,
Statutes of 1971, which provide for participation of Public Agency in said System,
Board and Public Agency hereby agree as follows:
A. The following subparagraph shall be added to Paragraph 8 of said contract:
8. (e) Section 21222.1 (providing for increases in allowances ~to which
the annual cost-of-living provisions apply, payable for time com-
mencing on the first day of the calendar month coinciding with or
next follov~ng the effective date of this amendment to or on
account of persons retired or members deceased on or prior to
December 31, 1970). ~
~B. Paragraph 9 (a)and 9 (b) shall be stricken from said contract and the
following paragraphs 9(a) and 9 (b) shall be substituted therefor:
9. Public Agency shall contribute to said Retirement System as follows:
a. With respect to miscellaneous members, the public agency shall
contribute the following percentages of monthly salaries earned
as miscellaneous members of said System:
'(1) O.11 percent until June 30, 1980 on account of the liabilit~
for prior service benefits.
(2) 8.67 percent on account of the liability for current service
benefits.
(3) 1.O0 percent on account of the liability for the 1959 Survivor
program.
(4) 0.40 percent for five (5) years from the effective date of
this amendment to provide the benefits under Section 21222.1
of the Government Code.

~ b. With respect to local safety members, the Public Agency shall
contribute the following percentages of monthly salaries ea_~ned
~' as local safety members of said System:
(1) 1.086 percent until June 30, 2002 on account of the '~liahi~ 'lity
'~ for prior service benefits.
(2) 12.403 percent on account of the liability for current
service benefits.
(3) 0.5 percent on account of the liability for the 1959 Su_~-
vivor program.
(4) 0.66 percent for five (5) years from the effective date of
this amendment to provide the benefits under Section 21222.1
of the Government Code.
C. This amendment shall be attached to said contract and shall be effec~ve
on the day of
